Rookie Scott Ashmore of Broken Arrow, OK

Scott Ashmore’s first competition as a Bassmaster Elite Series rookie will be the year’s biggest event, the Feb. 19-21 Bassmaster Classic on Alabama’s Lay Lake. He will be fishing to win the $500,000 first-place prize against 50 of the world’s best, including defending champ Skeet Reese and Kevin VanDam, five-time Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year and two-time Classic winner.

Famous guest loses cool on show–hangs up

December 8, 2009 1 comment

There has been a delay in the release of the December 2009 podcast episode.  While  recording a segment on “frog fishing”, we were joined by a special guest who is perhaps the best known authority on frogs.  While recording this segment of the show this guest became very frustrated, irate, and somewhat hostile.  As Hosts of the show this took us by surprise as this guest has a reputation for being friendly and is frequently shown to have an easy to get along with disposition on his many TV appearances.  When guest Kent Brown tried to change the subject to jig fishing the guest in question became even more unnerved and ultimately disconnected from the conference call–but not before mentioning that he would be speaking with his lawyer.  For this reason we are not comfortable printing the guest’s name at this time.

After much deliberation The Armchair Anglers have decided to edit out the offensive parts of the tirade, and otherwise publish the segment in question as planned.  Our goal at The Armchair Anglers is to have honest discussions about current fishing topics.  We make every effort to present these issues in a fair and balanced way–but will not back down from objectively discussing these issues.  In short, we will not let this show turn in to the fisherman’s version of the Jerry Springer show nor will we let it become an infomercial that is scared to discuss  real news and current events.   We are seeking the appropriate balance that our listener’s deserve.

Due to the extra editing required, the release of the show has been delayed by a few days.  Please check back soon to listen to the newest episode.

Sincerely,

Bo Crawford and Clint Jacobs
